Terms and Conditions

Jacob Tyler reserves the right to change, alter, or otherwise tailor the following rules of this competition without notice. NO PURCHASE NECESSARY. NO WRITTEN RESPONSE NECESSARY. A PURCHASE OR PARTICULAR RESPONSE DOES NOT IMPROVE YOUR CHANCE OF WINNING. VOID WHERE PROHIBITED.

Participation in the “Vote by Design” competition constitutes a students full and unconditional agreement to and acceptance of these rules and terms and conditions. By submitting an entry, each student grants Jacob Tyler Creative Group (Jacob Tyler) a royalty-free, non-exclusive, perpetual, worldwide license to reproduce, modify, prepare derivative works of, publicly display and otherwise use, in its sole discretion, any entry in any and all media for any and all purposes, including, but not limited to, incorporation into future Jacob Tyler products or services and the advertisement and/or promotion of Jacob Tyler products or services. Jacob Tyler Creative Group shall have no liability for any alleged or actual infringement of a third party’s rights in connection with any entry. Jacob Tyler may assign, transfer or sublicense this license without notice. Jacob Tyler reserves the right to edit entries as necessary in its sole discretion.

Jacob Tyler reserves the right to disqualify anyone who, in their opinion, has tampered with or disrupted the entry process or operation of this contest or violated the rules. If the contest cannot be run as planned for any reason, including technical problems, Jacob Tyler reserves the right to cancel, curtail, modify or suspend the contest. In the event the contest is terminated early, winners will be selected from all eligible entries received at the time of termination and will include all electronic entries submitted prior to the termination. Jacob Tyler is not responsible for lost, late, undeliverable, incomplete, illegible, or misdirected entries, or for any computer, online or technical malfunctions that may occur. Entries that are not in full compliance with the terms and conditions are void. Employees of Jacob Tyler, its licensors, distributors and agencies are excluded from participation. Prizes, if any, are not redeemable for cash. In the event that prizes are unavailable at the time they are awarded, Jacob Tyler may substitute prize(s) of equal or greater value. Lost or stolen prizes cannot be replaced.

Only posters complying with the rules may win. Poster designs will be judged by a qualified panel of judges on the basis of the following: 1) How well the poster conveys the subject: 2) How well the poster conveys the “vote” message. 3) Photographic or illustrative quality 4) Visual appeal. 5) Originality; Creativity; Aesthetic quality; Positive Messaging; Positive Images; Conformity with the theme. The contest will be judged by a panel of judges selected by Jacob Tyler. The decisions of the judges are final and binding. Potential winners will be notified by e-mail or mail by July 30, 2012. If a potential winner cannot be contacted and does not reply with appropriate affidavit and contact information within fourteen (14) days after the first attempt to contact such potential winner, an alternate entrant will be selected in his or her place.

Contest open to students at least 18 years of age and currently enrolled in a collegiate undergraduate or graduate program in at least one of the following areas: marketing, art, design (print or interactive), communications, photography, or advertising. The poster submitted must be the student’s own original design and cannot include copyrighted materials or logos.

Winners may not transfer prize rights nor obtain substitutions or cash redemptions. All taxes on prizes and incidental expenses not specified in the above prize descriptions are solely the responsibility of winners.

The grand prize will be awarded to 1 winner: (Grand Prize) $1,000 and a 3 month paid internship at Jacob Tyler located at 625 Broadway, Suite 1025, San Diego, CA 92101, and special recognition. Employment will be “at will” and subject to terms of California law. Internship compensation to be determined by Jacob Tyler. Winning the competition does not guarantee a full-time Job at Jacob Tyler. Subject to change. Odds of winning depend upon number of entries.

The second place prize will be awarded to 1 winner: (2nd Place). $500 and special recognition. Subject to change. Odds of winning depend upon number of entries.

The third place prize will be awarded to 1 winner: (3rd Place). $250 and special recognition. Subject to change. Odds of winning depend upon number of entries.

By submitting an entry, each student agrees that they have not or will not receive any compensation or other consideration for their entry. Each student further agrees to release and hold harmless Jacob Tyler and its licensors, distributors, agents, shareholders, directors, officers, employees and representatives from and against any and all losses, damages, rights, claims, and actions of any kind arising in connection with their participation in the contest, including, not limited to, claims based on publicity rights, defamation, or invasion of privacy. All federal, state, local, provincial and municipal laws and regulations apply. BY ACCEPTING THE PRIZE, THE WINNER AGREES THAT THE Sponsors, Their SUBSIDIARIES, AFFILIATES, ADVERTISING AND PROMOTION AGENCIES, AND ALL OF THE SPONSOR’S OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, REPRESENTATIVES AND AGENTS, WILL HAVE NO LIABILITY WHATSOEVER FOR, AND WILL BE HELD HARMLESS BY WINNER FOR ANY LIABILITY FOR ANY INJURY, LOSS OR DAMAGES OF ANY KIND TO PERSONS, INCLUDING DEATH, AND PROPERTY, DUE IN WHOLE OR IN PART, DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY, FROM THE ACCEPTANCE, POSSESSION, USE OR MISUSE OF THE PRIZE OR PARTICIPATION IN THIS SWEEPSTAKES OR PARTICIPATION IN ANY CONTEST OR PRIZE RELATED ACTIVITY.
